From heritage to street culture: a journey of light and belonging
Oxlade in Gabriel Abera – A Festival Moment Full of Meaning

On July 5th, 2025, the Crema Latina Island Festival at Cabana Beach in Mannheim became the stage for a truly special moment: Oxlade, one of the biggest stars in the global Afrobeats scene, performed as the festival’s headliner – fully dressed in Gabriel Abera.
The Nigerian artist, born Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman in Lagos, has risen to worldwide fame. Ever since his viral hit “Ku Lo Sa”, including the international collaboration with Camila Cabello, Oxlade has been celebrated as one of the leading voices of a new generation of global artists. His journey, however, was far from easy: raised in Surulere, Lagos, by his father and grandmother, he had to learn early on to stand up for himself, believe in his dreams, and walk his own path.
Shared Values: Family and Roots
These values continue to define his music today – and they perfectly mirror the ethos of Gabriel Abera.
As a brand, Gabriel Abera’s mission has always been to encourage people to celebrate individuality, embrace their roots, and walk their own path with courage. Family, brotherhood, and self-determination are the values at the heart of Gabriel Abera – the very same values that shaped Oxlade’s story. This alignment is no coincidence: one of the founders has East African roots, which are an essential part of the brand’s identity and a reminder that heritage and modern streetwear can walk hand in hand.
